Dr. Brock Rondeau’s practice focuses primarily on patients with orthodontic and TMJ (jaw joint) problems, with an emphasis on snoring and sleep apnea. He has been treating patients concerned with snoring and who suffer from sleep apnea for over twenty years, working with physicians and sleep and E.N.T. specialists to reduce the seriousness of sleep apnea, which is potentially a life-threatening disorder.

Dr. Rondeau teaches 140 days per year internationally and is a Diplomate of the International Board of Orthodontics and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.

If the teeth are badly decayed in a 5 – 6 year old children then stainless steel crowns are often the treatment of choice.

Can you provide any insight into my snoring problem?

Doctor, I'm a 40 year old male, 6'2" 200lbs and in good shape. Recently following shoulder surgery my wife noticed an increase in my snoring patterns so much that she is unable to sleep in the same room (so she says!!). I've tried dental appliances to no avail and even attempted to correct the snoring by the position I sleep in. Unfortunately none of these remdies have assisted. Can you provide any insight?

Most patients who snore also have sleep apnea, which is very dangerous for your health. Sleep apnea increases the risk of high blood pressure, heartburn (acid reflux), heart attack, strokes, type 2 diabetes, impotency and kidney problems. What causes a receding gum line? Can it be reversed?

Answer from The Tooth Doctor, Dr. Brock Rondeau:

Receding gum line can be caused by:

1.    Incorrect brushing technique
2.    Calculus under the gum line
3.    Grinding your teeth at night.

Dental hygienists are excellent at removing calculus under the gum tissue. To correct tooth grinding you need a special appliance to wear at night. This appliance is often covered by dental insurance.
To correct the gum recession this can be done surgically using a gingival graft procedure
