Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! celebrates the game of hockey and Canadian culture in a wholesome, festival atmosphere that makes kids feel like NHL pros and helps adults feel like kids again. Since this program's inception, over 790,000 Canadians have "taken back the streets" from coast to coast through participation in one of the sixty-eight (68) Play On! events held to date. And by the end of the summer of 2012, more than 1 million Canadians will have participated in a Play On! tournament.

A weekend to bid farewell to our much loved Harbour seals. Our 4 Harbour seals are scheduled to move the St. Louis Zoo's $18 million state-of-the-art seal habitat this spring. Take this last opportunity to see the seals in their Storybook habitat, say good-bye by dropping a card in our seal-send-off- suitcase and take in performances from one of our favourite summer performers Music with Brian and Friends.

May 26 - Music with Brian and Friends - Brian and his friends melody the Hippo and Alan the lion are wowing audiences across Canada with their exciting and interactive shows that have children and parents dancing, and singing during every performance. Brian gets right down on the floor with the kids, singing and playing songs that young children are familiar with as well as original songs that are receiving praise from critics throughout Canada. Show times: 12:30 & 2:30 pm.

May 27 - Splash N'Boots - Splash N'Boots have performed over 1200 shows in the last 6 years across Canada from coast to coast and around the world. The are internationally recognized with performances in sold out venues in Australia, Bermuda, Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Spain and California. Car Free Sunday

The Environmental Advisory Committee for the City of Woodstock, in partnership with various community groups, including the BIA, will be holding a Car-Free Sunday on Sunday, June 10^th. No vehicular traffic will be allowed in this area during that time.

The event is being well-publicized and citizens are being encouraged to walk, bicycle, rollerblade, or even skateboard on Dundas Street. The purpose of the event is to encourage physical activity and to turn Dundas Street into an urban park. There will be various activities on Dundas Street during this time, with the concentration of events in Museum Square.

Woodstock Community Strategic Planning Session

The City of Woodstock is conducting a Community Survey to determine residents’ views on the strengths and opportunities available in Woodstock, as well as priorities for programs and services provided by the city. The survey will be conducted by telephone with a random sample of residents across the city. The community survey may also be completed online at: www.city.woodstock.on.ca or in hard copy with a postage-paid mail-back envelope (available at City Hall, the Library, the Southside Aquatic Centre, the Art Gallery and the Community Complex).

A Community Visioning Workshop is scheduled for June 12^th at Goff Hall in the Woodstock District Community Complex, at 381 Finkle Street, from 7 to 9 pm. More information on this workshop will be provided in coming weeks.

Popular with people of all ages, this event has been held annually since 1937, making it the oldest Highland Games in Ontario. This is the 75th Anniversary!

Share the excitement of Canada’s largest tug-of-war event at the Embro Highland Games.This annual competion commemorates the Zorra team that won the world tug-of-war championship at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.

Home County Music & Art Festival

Home County presents its 39th festival in downtown London’s beautiful Victoria Park. Hear some of Canada’s finest songwriters sharing the stories behind their songs on three afternoon workshop stages, and sit back and enjoy the evening main-stage concerts at the Kiwanis Memorial Bandshell. Ian Thomas, among others, will perform.

Home County is renowned for its juried craft show, showcasing 120 Canadian artisans. Craft booths include pottery, glass, jewelry, fine art, textiles, metal, wood, photography and gourmet foods.

The festival also features 30 food vendors from a variety of cuisines. For the 2nd year, a Green Village will showcase innovative organic and sustainable products.

Admission is free, admission by donation is encouraged.
